Saturday

Following a viewing of The Tree of Life, I had a very interesting conversation last night about the nature of depression. I thankfully, am not a depressed individual, what i am though, is very cynical. Ive always been obsessed with the dark places the mind can go, and how terribly evil and downright disgusting human beings can be. Ever since i was a little kid ive been pulled into counselor meetings for drawing disturbing things, or been questioned about my mental stability due to the things ive created. This is often considered contradictory to my personality, as i'm pretty easy to get along with you dont offend me in any way mentally or visually. Anyway, to celebrate the weekend, i thought i would share with you some of my favorite grotesque images. Their isnt enough room on the internet to show them all, so these are a few standouts.

Opening Ceremony Sale

Their are very few sales i find interesting these days. My pickiness and brand loyalty means their are only select few things i still want come sale season, most of which never go on sale. Opening Ceremony, on the other hand, has the perfect end of the season sale. Their is frequently things i want on their website that i dont need quit enough to validate the price tag, especially since i know it will most likely be sliced in half come july. While OC might stock items too wild for some, i find its the perfect time to not only pick up staples, but also pick up a few standouts you wouldnt normally buy. Another great thing, is they put a large emphasis on quality, so no matter what you look at, its usually made in either the US or Japan. I picked up the top two items, a staple, the J Sabatino ombre flannel, and a standout, the OC mixed striped shirt. While the fit on the Sabatino is a tad bit large, and the OC a bit small respectively, they are still both high quality, beautiful garments that will both certainly end up in the lineup.

Moving Pictures

Heres a few art related videos that are good to watch.

Tate Channel: Mat Collishaw - This video really highlights his genius and diveristy of work.

Tom Sachs: A Selby Film - Video highlighting a bit of this innovative artists process.

Mark Lecky: Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore - Just a great video by the British artist.

R.I.P Cy Twombly

Up until 5 minutes ago, i thought the hangover im currently nursing was the worst thing going on in my life. Then i found out the pioneering artist Cy Twombly died in Rome. Ive always been drawn to Cy's work, and have often found myself stuck in front of his paintings for elongated periods of time. Cy was a truly original genius, and he will be missed.
